Friday Matinee - Good report for Sairabanu
Mollywood has been a mere spectator when the all other film industries were on the worldwide simultaneous release arena. Even the films of big stars used to take weeks to reach gulf countries where Malayalee expats are in large and sizable numbers. There were few exceptions in the past but a promising trend is emerging in 2017 especially this month will simultaneous release in overseas along with Kerala . Alamara had good release in Gulf one day prior to Kerala and coming week’s films also witness series new movies to brace overseas screens same day or even a day upfront. Basically it won’t give any extra benefit to the makers but it will end the long wait of the expats to watch their favourite stars movies.
This Friday is busy scheduled week for the Mollywood . Around seven films released across Kerala in which barring Alamara and C/O Sairabanu other films have name sake release which can neither return the revenue nor attract much needed public attention. Alamaraof director Midhun Manuel Thomas leads in wide release this week in around 90 screens with a above average WOM. Comedy film tag likely to help in the weekend. On the other hand Lady Super Star Manju warrier makes a strong come back through C/O Sairabanu which is getting good WOM from the family audience. Even though it has wide release in around 80 plus screens unluckily the number of the shows in many centers is less in numbers which may land the film in trouble.
Angamaly diaries has shown substantial growth in its business in Kerala due to the spread of terrific WOM. Film lovers are giving a must watch opinion and eventually it started to reflect in the theaters in the weekend itself. Gross is around 7.60 Cr in two weeks which actually means the movie enters profit zone. The courageous move of Lijo Jose Pellissery and Vijay Babu of Friday Film house to go ahead with fresh faces rewarded with rich dividend at box office.
Oru Mexican Aparatha fell flat at box office. Reversal of fortunes in the second week with virtually dull collection after a wonderful first week! Collects around 13.20 Cr with chances in the coming days are bleak at box office.
Ezra is grabbing the extra mile from the small centers of B and C class though the major centers are not supporting enough at sixth week. Total has touched 30 Cr which is a great achievement for a Mollywood film. Prithiviraj can now face 2017 confidently after delivering a blockbuster at the beginning itself.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is having splendid run at lower stations and managed to stay several major centers even after completion of 50 days in around 40 screens which is fabulous. Collects around 32.25 Cr in Kerala .
