2017 is gifted with some outstanding box office performance so far with first two months delivering one block buster each. The month of March may witness at least two blockbusters in which one is already on the way to become.
No major Malayalam film released today . Ayyal Jeevichiripundu directed by Vyasan featuring Vijay Babu – Manikandan rolled out with mixed opinion.
Oru Mexican Aparatha is a craze among the youths especially the students. It had spectacular opening day and followed by hysterical weekend with packed house full shows. The WOM is above average but the hype created in advance failed to die but maintained the momentum at high level even on the week days. Big turning point in the career of actor Tovino who suddenly treated in par with other ‘’big’’ youth icon stars like Nivin Pauly , Dulquer Salmaan etc . The bombastic opening and subsequent day’s collections catapult to in to a position to attain a Blockbuster status. Grossed approx 11.80 Cr and the producer lands in profit zone in a week itself. Superb feat. Whether it can be a block buster , depends up on its second week performance.
Angamaly diaries is a Lijo Jose Pellissery wonder. Innovative story telling with fresh faces that too aplenty. The WOM is super good. Though faced initial dull response it slowly and steadily managed to galvanize the crowd to its fore by the end of the week with big cities registering reasonable increase in occupancy compared to the initial days. Collects around 3.65 Cr with a brighter second week on cards!
Ezra slowed drastically by the euphoria generated by the two new young movies. It had several removals and show reduction in the fourth week and eventually the collection dipped to below average level. The total gross is around 27.55 Cr with around 10,000 plus shows
Aby though overshadowed by the new release the feel good film collects on average note in the second week in around 80 plus screens. Average grosser in terms of budget to revenue with gross around 5.90 Cr
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol first 50 Cr movie 2017 celebrates 50 days in Kerala in around 40 Screens across. In the weekends the family audience still pours in to watch this movie. So far 31.50 Cr gross in its favour from Kerala alone with nearly 16,500 shows.
