Movies on real life incidents are a rarity in Malayalam cinema. Take off becomes an exception to it and is a tearful tribute to late Rajesh Pilla’s dream. The notable stars of Mollywood got together to make a dream come true. Kunchako Boban, Fahad Fazil, Asif Ali and Parvathy teamed up with editor turned director – Mahesh Narayan to covert a real life incident relating to the evacuation of nurses stranded in Iraq. The FDFS viewers are showering all out praise for the movie especially for the amazing making. Released in around 100 screens in Kerala with a an average occupancy for the initial shows but most likely to pick up gradually from the evening as the good WOM is spreading through social networks at a fast pace.
Honey bee 2 – celebrations, opened big in Kerala in around 120 screens. Sequel to the super hit film Honey bee which was released way back in 2013. The initial euphoria surrounding the film died instantly due to below average to poor WOM. But the movie may reap the weekend benefit due to the hype generate for it. The weak script is being blamed as the biggest negative. Initial reports suggest of outstanding numbers for the film by raking up 1.48 Cr in the opening day.
Angamaly diaries touches the 10 Crore in Kerala in three weeks with around 7,500 shows. It was still the ‘’first choice’’ of the movie goers overtaking all the new releases of last week. The good WOM played it part in the box office with huge profit for the makers.
C/O Sairabanu is unlucky at box office even after getting good WOM the movie fared at below average level. The name ‘Manju’ could not help in the theaters with an exception to the Sunday. On Sunday it reached optimum level but to the surprise to the box office watcher the movie performed poorly in the week days. It has collected around 1.90 Cr which is the lowest first week total for a Manju warrier lead movie. But her name is likely to bring a reasonable amount by way of Satellite rights.
Alamara disappoints at box office with disastrous collection in the week days. The opening week stands at 1.78 Cr with minimal revenues expected in second week. Director Midhun Manuel earned a prominent space through his two films but unable to click this time.
Oru Mexican Apparatha struggles at box office while its counterpart of the same week fly high. OMA has 13.45 Cr gross. Mohanlal's blockbuster enters to sixty plus days in around 25 screens. Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has now 32.50 to its credit
