Friday Matinee - Aby - Feel good
Aby of Vineeth Sreenivasan directed by Srikant Murali has taken off smoothly in around 90 plus screens across Kerala. The movie has a ‘’feel good’’ WOM which can place in a better position in the extended weekend of this week due to Shivarathri Holiday on Friday. The opening day is a mixed bag for this movie. Unlike other Vineeth starrer films it had silent day shows but gradually it picked by the evening. The initial report suggest the movie has taken up a gross of 78 lakhs which is above average opening considering the present context of the initial Mollywood films gets.
The other release of this week, Veeram of director Jayaraj gets mixed opinion from the FDFS viewers.
Ezra still tops the chart with impressive performance at box office. The weekend has been terrific with maximum numbers pouring in theaters. The business reached its peak on Sunday. But the week days witnessed rapid reduction in occupancy from Monday to Wednesday. While big cities were strong the small cities were weak in the collection. The disadvantage of acceptability of horror film to wider extend which we have mentioned in the last week blog was quite apparent in this week. Still this film from Prithviraj- Jay Key combination delivering its card properly in Kerala! It has collected approx 21.35 Cr in two weeks which is excellent by all means.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol bounces back in fifth week after a week of lull. The hot favorite of family audience gathered its momentum by the weekend by proving Mohanlal as a family and next door man is always a hot cake in the market. It has grossed around 29.80 Cr in five week time in around 15,000 shows. Chances are bright for this movie to enter 50 Cr club by next Monday due to the splendid collection the movie is getting overseas.
Fukri is doing last attempt at box office by staying in some of the major centers by the grace and influence of the distributor. The gross is approx 6.80 Cr in three weeks in around 6,000 shows. Film lovers are giving it a try since it is been promoted heavily as comedy film
Singham 3 (Si3) will be eye opener to the Kerala distributors who are willing to pay huge amount for the distribution rights. Repeatedly it is proven that Tamil biggie movies are not at all profitable in Kerala market but even after the burns these distributors queuing up at Chennai get the deal done with exorbitant rates. This film also gives the distributor tough fight for the break even. Collects around 7.90 Cr in two weeks.
Jomonte Suvishengal little noticed at box office of Kerala with minor change in its gross which is approx 15.75 Cr
