Friday Matinee - Wonderful Vismayam
Fantastic Friday for Mollywood. Super Star Mohanlal back on silver screen after nearly nine months through multilingual film Vismayam. Dulquer to have an important cameo in Ann Mariya Kalipilanu directed by Aadu fame Mithun Manuel . To add more flavours and colours to the party one more interesting film with a strange title Guppy.
Initial report suggest of good WOM for the Vismayam. The actor Mohanlal is back that what his fans say. Released in over 80 screens but opened up not as brisk as a Mohanlal film use to do. It may be due to dubbed version and lack of proper marketing before the release. Another reason is the heavy rain lashing in Kerala. By the present WOM it is expected to get good level from the present average to below average opening of the morning shows. Box office it may be average earner even after getting good report that very rarely happens for Mohanlal movie!
Guppy and Ann Maria also getting good reports from FDFS viewers and are also having large number of screens. It is highly difficult to predict which film among the three will emerge as a winner of the week.
Kerala Top 5 movies as on 05/08/2016
1. Kabali
One more decent weekend has saved Kabali in Kerala. It was expected of below average weekend but the star power of Rajinikanth improved it considerably in several station with weekend registering around 60 to 70% occupancy. By holding releasing centers Maxlab was intending to milk even the last drop before it’s next venture hit the screens today. Kerala has registered a gross of 15.65 Cr in two weeks with shares just falling short of break even. Luck seem to be favouring the Kerala distributors and they have every chance of break even with a run in small centers. Hit in Kerala
2. Anuraga Karikkin Vellam
The monsoon surprise has entered in to 10 Cr club and 8,500 show region with steady performance at box office. Interestingly even after several release today the theater owners have given go ahead nod for another one week in majority of the centers. Gross is around 10.70 Cr. Super Hit.
3. Kismath
It is fitting reply to big budget film makers who cries for the increasing budget in Mollwood. The film made out of wafer thin budget of 60 lakhs and takes home the cost within a week. Strongly moved to second week with several screens added. Hit within a week and by the trade wise will be super hit due to the profit it is going to earn in the second week. Gross around 1.30 Cr.
4. White
One of biggest disasters of 2016 even the Megastar who has strong and solid fan base could not help it from huge fall. It had poor opening and disturbing weekend at Kerala. Collects around 1.10 Cr. Unimaginable for a Mammootty film in a first week. Handsome look can’t save a Malayalam film even the fans turned the face.
5. Kasaba
Shrinks more even though it stayed on to some of the screens with limited shows and revenue. Gross is around 13. 35 Cr in four weeks with around 7,800 shows.
