Friday Matinee - Yodhavu Surprises on day one
Monsoon is the gift of the nature always in time though will have few days changes here and there As Kerala welcomes the shower of blessings it coincide with beginning of fasting of Holy month of Ramzan in another three to four days time, the Mollywood will have its blanket on by way of closure of several screens in the Malabar region . One of the natural consequences of these two events is the large drop in the collection at least in the day time. More over the release will be at low key stages.
Before the downfall some of the movies released today utilize the vacuum of the major release Anganethanne Nethave Anjettenam Pinale and Ghost Villa are the notable ones
Kerala Top 5 movies as on 03/06/2016
1. Yodhavu (Sarrainodu)
Telugu super sensation star Allu Arjan has seen several super hits to blockbusters but he just wondered about unbelievable opening from unexpected corner of India, Kerala Through his official twitter handle he expressed his gratitude and surprise for the grand reception for this dubbed version of Sarrainodu. In around 75 screens the film has done an outstanding business across Kerala by relegating two major Malayalam films to lower positions. WOM wise it did’nt had much to its credit but the star power AA just shined to its maximum. Collected around 3.60 Cr in the first week which absolutely a surprise opening at Mollywood.
2. School Bus
One of the major releases of last Friday. Gifted with around 85 screens in Kerala. Roshan Andrews along with script writer duo Bobby- Sanjay. Presence of Kunchako Boban and Jayasurya and marketing wise it was not bad at all, still it lacked the final punch at box office. Posters with kids and trailers were pointing towards family interest subject but the box office was not so enthusiastic it seems. Collects around 2.55 Cr which is below average opening considering the huge number of screens it had.
3. Kammatipaadam
This Rajeev Ravi – Dulquer treat still having average collections in big cities while in small centers the collection has taken a huge beating though it has hold on to around 90 screens in the second week. Collects around 9.30 Cr in 5,200 shows which ensures the film will be profitable with rights. One more hit for Dulquer Salman in his hit parade. Rare commercial success for Rajeev Ravi, a genuine earner in his three film career as director.
4. Aadupuliyattam
Jayaram keeps his promise by handing over a share of profit to Jisha’s mother; a good gesture from the team. Frankly I feel it may be donation on his part to console the poor mother. Because it’s too early to earn profit from theater run itself or otherwise they might have stuck good deal of satellite right. Since the star is tight lipped on the source and mode of profit better to guess, as the no official confirmation so far on rights aspects is forth coming. But the film has done justice to the efforts by grossing around 5.90 Cr in two weeks with around 3,500 shows. It has potentials to add some more to its credit. Hit at box office at last for Jayaram which was due for quite long time.
5. Happy Wedding
Director's debut is order of every week . Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya by Sajan K Mathew is the latest entry to the list of new directors while two weeks ago a film got released silently without much fan fare but now making strong presence felt at box office after the completion of second, Happy wedding directed by Omar is on upward journey. There is lot of good news for this film; it has increase of several shows in major centers including multiplexes. The film has grossed around 1.70 Cr from in two weeks and likely to break even from theater run itself by the end of third week due to more centers are added and WOM is thorough fun movie in nature . Is it heading for a surprise hit status?
