Have they killed Puli Murugan ?
Puli murugan is in news for nearly 2 years. The project planned way back early in 2014 and during the course of these years Mollywood witnessed a sea change in its approach towards cinema. The so called new gen movies which mocked at the very existence of big stars with certain game changing themes and plots slowly and steadily replaced by some interesting realistic movies. The fantasy no longer a dependable subject but the how far deep you can sunk in to the realistic knots is the demand in need of the hour.
Pulimurugan has a macho and Rambo like Murugan who goes after a wild tiger to ultimately to take its life. An exciting one line at least an year ago looks totally a question mark now. The shoot began in mid 2015 and churned through several schedules at Vietnam and back home still in the process of its finalization. One year for planning and another one year for completion, even the chilly wrapped in BBQ’s will tear apart. The long drawn schedules to delayed schedules the makers were actually losing the grip on it. Soon the danger they realized we were greeted with plethora of news about the films and even the confirmation of its release on coming Eid. Then comes the Super Star’s grand birthday and it started with launch of teaser which was well received by the fans! The reception of the teaser showed how eager was the fans for this big budget movie. Yet one more time the makers confirmed the release date through the teaser.
The big surprise yet to come, within a just week after the teaser release the behind the curtains the timid makers were watching its competitors at the box office and desperately finds out that one and only Super Star Rajnikanth has slated the grand release of Kabali on Eid day and to make thing worse Megastar Mammootty’s new talk in town Kasaba also on the same day to hit the screens. With mammoth and unrecoverable budget in hand the makers of Pulimurugan decides to shelve the release and still not finalized the date of its release. The more the time it takes more the damage to the success of the movie. The fear has engulfed the makers after spending an unbelievable amount on the project. In an era of realistic movies how a fantasy movie can work? More over they want an open space where no other major contenders are at stake at box office when it released. The Mollywood is at frenzied release stage and forget about the open space even small films are making a noticeable marks at the box office. So even if they release the movie in Kerala around 200 to 220 Screens the maximum possible in a day is 3 to 3.20 Cr. This film can achieve the magic figure on day one if it is released on Eid even if other films are there. When they have the advantage of big opening why they tries to run away?
More you delay more the excitement evaporate. The delay has done enough damage to Pulimurugan. Get it released at the earliest is the only key to the box office. Its a story about Murugan killing a tiger so don’t kill Puli Murugan ‘ by unreasonable delay which actually can kill the film itself which makers will be held responsible.
