Neelakasham Pachakadal Grosses 2.86 Crores in first week - Ramzan Boxoffice Opening Update
Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi had a good opening week of 2.86 Crores from 53 theaters in Kerala. The film has shrugged off a slight drop over the weekdays, and picked up well over the weekend and the second Monday, with late releases. The cost of production is reported as 5.5 Crores, a bit on the higher side considering the release count. A good second weekend shall see the venture break even.
Meanwhile, Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum and Memories dominated the rural screens and multiplexes respectively in the first week. Though, the mixed word of mouth caused Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum end the opening week a bit lower than the initial expectations at 3.69 Crores. The film performed well on the independence day holiday and had an above average second weekend. It needs to be seen how the late releases propel the movie forward in the second week.
Memories maintained its momentum to finish at 2.73 Crores, with shifts to bigger screens and additional releases. While the rural screens may see drops in the second week, the strong trends at metros shall see the film break even in the second week.
Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty grossed 2.61 Crores from initial 8 days, and seems likely to be a wash out within three weeks of theatrical run. The opening day was good without any competition, but the collections since the first monday have been rather forgettable, despite an average word of mouth.
The 2013 Ramzan has been a succesful one for the trade in general with three out of four releases being accepted by the audience, inspite of the rush of other language films. Memories has dominated Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Thrissur. NPCB has performed its best at Calicut, Kasargod and other northern districts apart from multiplexes, while PPAK had no competitor in rural areas like Kodungallur.
