Memories and Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum lead Ramzan Boxoffice

Memories and Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum have clearly become the top runners in the 2013 Ramzan Mollywood Boxoffice after ammassing houseful shows all over the state on the Independence day holiday. Both the films can be termed as clear hits unless they face drastic drops on Friday, which is highly improbable considering that there are no high profile releases other than Bharath's 555 which should not be a threat to either of the these films.

Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum has stormed its way to one of the biggest openers for Lal Jose, despite bottle neck competition. The movie has garnered tremendous response from family audiences, who were literally left with no other choice, as Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukkutty dropped from Monday. The film is expected to end the opening week as the numero uno with a gross around 4 Crores, and shall cruise into the second week without much removals.

Memories was touted as the dark house for this year's Ramzan, and has punched much above its weight. The movie's acceptance was embarked with tremendous response in the metros. Memories has not ruled the rural areas, but the BO performance has been much better than other recent thrillers. Memories clearly dominated the multiplexes on Thursday, and shall in all probabilities finish the week at the second position with a gross around 2.70 - 2.80 Crores.

Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi has slowed down a bit, with the other movies picking up. The movie did make money on the holiday at the metros and multiplexes, but the rural BO left much more to be desired. It is still looking at a good first week total of around 2.50 Crores, which should be decent considering its genre, but will have to settle for a third spot.

Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty shall end up as one of the notable BO failures for Renjith in the recent times. KKOM has struggled to keep pace with the competitiors and has lost quite a few critical show spaces a bit too early. Shifts to lower capacity theaters, and wide removals leave the movie with not much chance at the BO going forward.
