Friday Matinee - The Gigantic Father
As this blogger predicted few days back, new records are born in Mollywood through The Great Father .Mega Star stormed the Kerala Box office on Thursday. The film in around 200 screens across Kerala was packed with full houses even after providing additional screens. Mammootty’s stylish performance turned his fans hysterical at theaters and they burst in to joy seeing their hero in a marvelous mass role. The movie has higher rating from the fans while others are giving a good one time watchable for the sake of Mammootty’s performance and the valuable message it renders. The women audience has given thumps up which are good sign for a long run as well. The movie has created new record opening with a figure of 4.31 Cr which was published by one of the Producer Prithviraj through his FB. Initially production team has hinted at 3.57 Cr as the figure but changed it later. The movie set to create new weekend record as well apart from registering the highest number of shows for a Malayalam movie in a single day. It is time for new records in Mollywood....Take off has the superb WOM and unanimous response from the viewers. Even though it started on an average to below average occupancy on day one the movie showed substantial growth on the very next day and therefater wrapping the weekend at excellent note with 90 plus occupancy in majority of the screens. In big cities the movie is doing extremely better on weekdays but the small centers does not giving enough assistance at box office. Overall the movie has sustained well at box office to gross around 6.85 Cr in a week time which is very good opening for a real life movie without much hype. The second week more positive with vacations are on. Much needed break for Kunchako Boban as the lead cast. Parvathi steals the credit one more time.
Honey bee 2 has failed miserably at box office and heading towards notable disaster list. Below average to poor WOM damaged its prospects in the second day itself. The first week gross is around 3.80 Cr which is below average opening compared to the number of screens it got released.
Angamaly diaries Achieves the super hit status by grossing around 13.35 Cr in around 9000 shows in Kerala.
C/O Sairabanu struggled but managed to sail the second week with decent occupancy in around 50 screens with limited shows. It is doing an average business in Travancore area while Malabar is let down. Grossed around 3 Cr so far.
