Friday Matinee- Ezra -The excellent

The victims of film strike are taking the sweet revenge through their big wins at box office. Ezra which ought to have been released during the X mas period is the talk of the town in the Mollywood with its blockbuster status in a week itself. Back to back BB’s in consecutive months of 2017 are encouraging trend for the industry which has arraigned a chain of notable and prestigious projects in coming months.

Ezra has stormed the box office with an incredible occupancies at the opening day and to a energetic weekend. The initial three days registered 95% plus above collection across Kerala and the trend continued surprisingly Monday as well. There after the movie has seen reasonable drop in single screens but the Multiplexes has provided good collection. The good quality theaters gets the big share of public and at the same time other theaters been avoided in big cities which has more screens for the movie due to its technical aspects. This horror film which has been rated well due to its technical superiority is screening in big way in the rest of India market. DOP and the Sound is treat to watch and hear. The trend is apparent that ordinary cinema viewers wanted not to miss this movie. This is a healthy sign for Prithviraj- Jay team. Disadvantage, how far a horror film can sustain at box office. The figures for first week is excellent with approx 13 .90 Crore to its kitty.

Singham 3  (Si3) has done a reasonable business at Kerala. The initial and weekend is the back bone for the Kerala collection. Otherwise weekdays have been virtual failure. Collected around 7.40 Cr in a week which above average considering the wide release it got! Suriya known for his acting skills not coming up films which can use his potentials. Repeated masalas are not adding any credit for his career.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol holds on around eighty plus with support of its target audience. The collection is average during the weekend and below average at weekdays. Should remember that it was in fourth week run! The total in Kerala is approx 27.90 Cr with around 12,000 shows. Mohanlal has a solid start in 2017. GCC and rest of the world screens to touch around 200 screens this week, which reaffirm one important fact that the Mollywood reach is on a growing note!

Fukri has flopped at box office. With huge budget the film unable even to recover one third of the cost from theaters. When a film WOM falls below the passing mark the collection will be a drastic one and it has approx 5.70 Crore in two weeks.

Jomonte Suvishengal  limping at box office due to arrival new movies. Not much thing happened for the DQ film at Kerala but had some good moments at GCC. Manages around a fourth week total of approx 15.45 Cr in Kerala

Two low budget films fighting for some release screens this week. Swayam and Aaradi, hope they get noticed.
