Friday Matinee- Good report for Aanandam
It was in 2014 Vineeth Srinvasan’s Thira was pitted against Mohanlal’s Geethanjali . Just before the release he said he is tensed due to the fact that his film is releasing on the same day release of Mohanalal film and Laletten as they call him is ‘’Tsunami’’ . Fortunately for Vineeth Geethanjali could not even created a wave but his film Thira did. Today after two years Vineeth as producers of Aanandam release amidst ongoing Puli MuruganTsunami of Mohanlal which started two weeks before still sweeps the box office collection. Aanandam is all out new comer’s movie in all spheres. LJ films released it in same way just like a big star film underlining the factor cinema is the real star. The new gen movie has super report from FDFS viewers so we may have one hit in the blockbuster month of October. More over it has that ‘Lucky man’ in a cameo role . Guess who?
Top 5 movies as on 21/10/2016
1 Pulimurugan
Today is the 15th day of Puli Murugan and it is crossing most prestigious land mark of any film 10,000 shows in Kerala in its fourteen and half days of run. Normally it takes minimum four weeks time to reach this feat. All time block buster Premam crossed the ten thousand shows on 22nd day of its release. Murugan has unprecedented run in Kerala and also rest of India. There are umpteen number of records it has broken and it is certain that this Mohanlal’s visual mass movie will be the highest grosser of Mollywood beating his own Drishyam. 50 Cr gross from Kerala alone is looking just a matter of time to achieve. Drishyam set the record in its long 175 days continues run while Murugan is very close to Drishyam within 14 days itself. Admitted Malayalam cinema never witnessed 600 plus shows even on for the opening but Murugan continued it 700 plus journey for 11 days and currently having 600 plus to its credit. The movie has romped home an extra ordinary 39.78 Cr in 14 days in around 190 screens. Just monitoring eagerly whether it can surpass Drishyam Kerala gross by this weekend itself!
2. Thoppil Joppan
Apart from above average Saturday and good Sunday Joppan had a dull week at box office. The above average WOM and Mammootty factor could not provide enough assistance at box office in the week days. But the film is in the safe zone with rights. It has grossed around 11.15 Cr in two weeks which is reasonable considering the fact that it had to face a ‘wave’ film on the other side. The director Johny was candid enough to admit that Joppan benefited from Murugan.
3. Kavi Udheshichathu
It has survived the heat of two other but hold to around 60 plus screens with decent occupancy in the evening shows. The above average to good WOM would help in getting handsome rights since Biju menon and Asif Ali have has a reasonable fan following. Collects around 3.45Cr in two weeks.
4. Oppam
Entering to 50th day week in around 50 plus screens. Crossed over to 13,000 shows in 43 days run with a collection of 37. 75 Cr . The world wide collection has crossed 50 Cr figure which one of biggest achievement of this film at the box office. From India itself it has collected 40 Cr plus. Since it is an 50 days week many of the exhibitors have shown their gratitude by making it a comeback release in several screens. They can have the success memento , so who wants to lose it !
