Boxoffice Review - 2013 Week 34 - Kalimmanu Opens Average, Memories and Pullipuli HIT
RANK # 1 – KALIMANNU
Kalimannu opened in 75 screens to above average attendance from Friday evening. The film seems to have benefitted from the controversies which it finds to be embraced in. The wide release may secure it a decent initial, but the word of mouth suggests an average first week and not much from there on.
Verdict : Average Opening
RANK # 2 – MEMORIES
Memories has outpaced its Ramzan competitors big time in its 3rd weekend, and the multiplexes showed better status than the new release Kalimannu. The movie shall in all possibilities become the highest grosser for Prithviraj this year, toppling the 6.42 Crores of Mumbai Police. If Memories can surge ahead with the momentum, even the 7 Crore gross of Grandmaster looks touchable.
Gross : 5.84 Crores (17 Days)
Verdict : HIT
Verdict : HIT
RANK # 3 – PULLIPULIKALUM AATINKUTTIYUM
Pullipulikalum Aatinkuttiyum may have dropped a place, but is still strong with a 65+ theaters in the 3rd week. The film is definite financial success, with the distributor share approaching the 3 Crore mark.
Gross : 6.43 Crores (17 Days)
Verdict : HIT
Verdict : HIT
RANK # 4 – NEELAKASHAM PACHAKADAL CHUVANNA BHOOMI
NPCB had an average third weekend of 28 lacs, with the total distributor share crossing the 2 Crore mark. The BO performance is appluadible for road movie, but the reasonably high cost of production may reprieve it of a clean HIT status. But NPCB shows that even experimental ventures can break even in Mollywood , if made well.
Gross : 4.62 Crores (17 Days)
Verdict : ABOVE AVERAGERANK # 5 – OLIPPORU
Olipporu misfired big time, as confessed by the lead actor, Fahad, and proves to a complete washout. It would be miracle to see this entry in next week’s BOV Boxoffice Review.
Verdict : DISASTER
