Friday Matinee - Best ever Onam for Mollywood
The biggest festival of Malayalee is over and an average family’s this month budget almost utilized and it will have an impact on the films revenue up to the end of this month. But the Onam releases have one story to tell, that I am in safe zone.
Top 5 movies as on 23/09/2016
1 Oppam
The highest grosser of the Mollywood in 2016 and it achieved it in just two weeks. This Mohanlal- Priyadarshan blockbuster is entering to third week strongly with increase of shows and holding it release screens. The collection graph has seen the high and dry even on the weekdays. The Thursday is the lowest in the weekdays and the Wednesday which was a holiday broke the 1 Cr, one more time. It has gross of 23.70 Cr in by the end of extended two weeks run. The movie expected to do well in this weekend and chances at bright spot of crossing 25 Cr by the weekend itself.
2. Welcome to Central Jail
Like to call it as the surprise of this season due to the weak WOM it had comparing with other movies. It proved that comedy and Dileep if comes together the Malayalees are ready to accept during the festive season. Collected around 12.10 Cr which is big news itself. More over it still holds around 80 screens for the third week. On the way to Super Hit. Good year for Dileep and reasonable come back for director Sundardas because the reviews were negative in majority but box office wise perfect.
3. Oozham
Among the major three films this Prithvi Raj films has large chunk of removals towards third week. Collection is down wards after the end of Onam holidays and has managed around 11.80 Cr and occupancy wise the last few days were not at all encouraging. Jeethu Joseph is the one of the prime reason for better performance at box office.Hit at the box office and further box office chances are not bright.
4. Oru Muthassi Gadha
Apart from the stars the directors holds the key for the initial. Jude by this Om Shanthi Oshana and his frequent social network intervention has his own followers. OMG box office run amidst the major release vindicate his popularity. WOM is good and without any big stars the film managed to register its presence. Collects around 2.75 Cr is from around 50 screens. Excellent.
5. Irumugan
The ‘1’ impact of Vikram provided this film some more room at Mollywood. The gross has surpassed 5 Cr that can be rated as good considering impressive performance of Malayalam films.
