Friday Matinee - Anuraga Karikkin Vellam heading for Super Hit

One of the sad day for the Mollywood . Kabali storm devastated the entire existing films which was getting reasonable response at box office. Maxlab- Ashirvad combine claims 2,000 shows for Kabali Kerala. Notwithstanding the exaggeration the Super Star Rajini has around 1,400 shows in Kerala which in nutshell means around 500 to 600 shows only for all other films put together in Kerala on Friday in release centers. The Thaliavar film opened to mixed reviews has come in as big relief to Malayalam cinema otherwise it would have dry day even for the next week. General perception is that Kabali may not hold in many screens after the first day and also the weekend. But the pertinent point is here the crucial weekend for some of the Malayalam film will be lost due to lack of enough number of shows. Latest Mollywood film Pa.Va courageously released in around 40 plus screens with average report.

Kerala Top  movies as on 22/07/2016

1. Anuraga Karikkin Vellam

The feel good entertainer outsmarts all other competitors at box office with plenty of additional screens and shows. Khalid Rehman’s sweet drama is the first real surprise of second half of 2016. The film is hot sensation among youth and family, the real core audience of present Mollywood. When they are opting this movie there is no doubt how far it can go. A Super hit level for sure. Kabali might have spoiled it for a day but should be back on Saturday with extra vigor to reap one more splendid box office weekend harvest. Collects around 7.90 Cr gross with around 5,000 shows. Resisted Kabali alone that indicates how much strong foot this Biju Menon- Asif Ali film stands.

2. Kasaba

When all the excitement of first week dwindles down the Mega star movie had to face the rough and hard reality of sharp decline of the collections. Even though it had excellent number of screens and shows the collection were below average. But it completed 6,000 shows in quick speed. The collection stands at around 12.75 Cr gross in two weeks in Kerala. The negative opinion among the families virtually gave a highly tough time at box office. Mammootty who is considered as the darling of family audience subjected to face non flow of family audience.  A silent protest kind of thing from the families who shown lack of interest. More over this film at the receiving in its third week by the reduction of number of screens and shows. Hopefully the tide may change from Tomorrow. Excepting for a few come back.

3. Karinkunnam sixes

Though the film is not big hit or sensation it ensured notable space among Ramzan market. Actually reversed and avoided a sure flop tag which was looming large after the first weekend. Crossed a decent 4 .30 Cr and along with rights the film will be safe business wise. Manju warrier may not have succeeded completely but still not out.

4. Sultan

Created record in all India and performed perfectly at Kerala too. Normally Hindi films in Kerala a one week affair. Rarely it breaks the tradition. Salaman Khan film enjoyed around 50 screens in the second week. Collects around 4.10 Cr. Very good for Bollywood film in Kerala.

5. Shajahanum Pareekuttyum

Flopped at box office. Relatively bigger budget with prominent star cast. Comedy failed to connect and thus ended as the main negative of the movie. Even the presence of Kunchako Boban and Jayasurya didn’t help. The second week is total failure with meager collection. Grossed around 5.10 Cr in two weeks without any possible returns in the coming week.
