Friday Matinee- James & Alice are here to stay for few weeks

Sujith Vasudeven is gifted photographer in the Mollywood. The frames to lighting and the angles were unique and has visualized amazing pleasure to our eyesight numerous time. When he tries his luck at the direction of a film , one would definitely expects something mind blowing . He has one of the talented and handsome Prithviraj with him. Scheduled a week ago and rescheduled due to the threat of strike, James and Alice has released with mixed reports in around 80 plus screens. The family oriented subject told in conventional way . Some reviews are gone in favour of the film while others have been critical.   Duration  of the film is the villain. Recently a section of people complained about short length of film Kali. So what is the actual duration Keralites are looking for?   The negative reports are born out of huge expectation.  But still people are applauding the camera work. Since the film may appeal to family audience the chances at box office is bright. But  still in a state of doubt for the relatively average opening reported for the film. It has collected approx 90 lakhs on day one.  Expected a big opening for the stylish look of Supreme Star.

1. Jacobinte Swargarajyam

The best earner from Mollywood in the summer season; crossed 15 Cr within 4 weeks and is at 16.70 Cr in 27 days with around 8,700 shows. Occupancy wise leader among Malayalam as it attracted around 40 % in major cities on week days and more than 80% in the weekend. Mega hit with its box office performance and has one more weekend to its credit because of the not good WOM of James. Super Star Nivin Pauly  is undisputed and reliable hero for the family audience after this film. Rest of India and Worldwide his name sells better than hot cake.

2. King Liar

 Moved one place up at its fifth week due to the vast number of screens it hold on at the box office. Sixty plus screens for this Dileep super hit and the gross is around 17.50 Cr in 11,000 shows which is massive. At receiving end due to the release of 24  and James .

3. Leela

Below average collection in the second week though maintained around 40 screens. Luckily it has grossed 3 Cr and chances here after are very bleak. At the final analysis the film will bring back a meager profit.

4. Theri

The film crossed a gross of 15 Cr in Kerala. Good achievement for a film which has been showing drop in collection. Profitable for the Kerala distributor with around 8,500 shows completed in the state.

5. Shikhamani

Disappointed big time at box office. Never in the frame of box office due to low occupancy even though released over 70 plus screens in Kerala. Bombed at box office with around 70 lakhs gross
