Friday Matinee - Darvinte Parinamam - Mixed reports

End of the drought season in Mollywood box office! From this week onward we have chain of movies clashing at Kerala screens. The initial report of Supreme Star Prithviraj’s  Darvinte Parinamam which released in 100 plus screens in Kerala indicates that it is enriched with the full houses and heavy rush at various screens which were missing for some time even though some films survived on the screens. Many screen owners had no option than to run the films incurring losses. Name sake the films show count were higher numbers but revenue wise the disparity was huge.

FDFS viewers were giving excellent reports to Darvinte Parinamam since many of them hardcore fans. Now the dust of fan base reviews to counter reviews settles this Prithvi film has mixed WOM at box office. Majority says its one time watchable and expectation burden plays spoil sport here as well. But biggest plus of the movie is the Prithvi himself, the  impeccable track record of Supreme Star boost the chances at box office . More over shift of Dileep’s King Liar to April most likely to give extra mileage at Easter Holiday audiences though the darling of box office DQ’s Kali is there to break the records. While the festive atmosphere mark the release of DP there is one more major release in the Mollywood in the form of Ithu Thanda Police of Asif Ali . The release of the police of Asif was frequently changed couple of times and it has adverse impact on day one. The earlier reports are not encouraging .

Kerala Top 3 movies as on 18/03/2016

1. Action Hero Biju

Still on Top in highly weak box office season. In its sixth week the film ensured that it remains on 60 plus screens which is massive in any means. The Super Hit film has 13.10 Cr with an impressive 12,500 shows. Multiplexes is having better occupancy compared to new releases. Nivin Pauly is brand name which guarantees cent percentage return of revenues. The film has handsome amount from sale of overseas right and the foreign distributors have earned their money back with profit and they are queuing up for Jacob one month advance itself. Super Hit

2. Maheshinte Prathikaram

Comes back to second position with steady collection which required for a sixth week film. The film has smoothly crossed to 13 Cr with 11,500 shows. Super Hit with huge profit from theater run itself. Fahad Fazil will be very much relaxed by the stupendous theater run of the film which he desperately in need of. Super Hit

3.Vettah

Fate of this film is sealed and future is not bleak at box office due to several releases this week. Collects 5.40 Cr approx in three weeks. Average grosser.
